Garhwal Himalayan
This region contains some of the finest mountains in the Himalayan
and is
highly accessible. And this region had been open since the British
took over in
1815, but it was abandoned by explore in favor of the more mysterious
Nepal. The
splendors of these mountains are the scenic infatuation in fact
the forests around big peaks are still in marvelous condition and
the local population is unaffected by the ravages of mass tourism
and this area is conserved as a national park. In the whole treks
you will see different species of birds. Eight routes are included
here, which offer some of the most spectacular walking and scenery.
Best season is February-March at lower altitude for the
spectacular rhododendrons. April-May is good at higher altitudes
with cool weather.
July-August the monsoon is good for alpine flowers and in September
the air is
beautiful rain-washed, but early morning clear skies can give way
by 1000 to cloud, and the view may completely disappear. October-November
when the temperature is lower the skies clearer and vegetation greener
following the monsoon the mountains which are dominating the Garhwal
and Kumaon Himalayas are the Nanda Devi group of mountains with
Nanda Devi (7,816), named after the all-ecompassing from of the
female deity, at its center and this is the highest mountain in
India. Nanda Devi means of (who gives bliss) a local princess who
was demanded for marriage by and marauding prince. War ensued, her
father was killed and she fled, eventually she was refuge at the
top of the mountain now
bearing her name
