This is one of the classic hiking tours of the region, and also
one of the most popular. The trekking part is done from horseback
as well as on foot, if the trail becomes too steep. From Purne we
will visit the Phutal Monastery. The Zanskar Phutal belong to the
tradition of the Gelupas (yellow hats). The stream that runs deep
in the cave is still out of bounds to women. At Ichar, there is
an interesting fortified village.
