This
is one of the world's most legendary treks. This 300 mile route
leads through many culturally and ethnically diverse villages; as
well as highland and lowland ecosystems. You will circumnavigate
the entire Annapurna range, which extends 64 miles from east to
west. This is a spectacular range of mountains with peaks rising
over 20,000'. You will travel from the subtropical rice fields to
deciduous forests of Rhododendron and other native species to alpine
forest. This trek will take you over high passes, through rain shadow
deserts, and by the Kali Gandaki Gorge (the deepest on terrestrial
earth). We will see the holy shrine of Muktinath, encountering both
Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. At higher elevations Thakli and Manang
traders will be encountered traveling along the trail. At the lower
elevations we will see the farming peoples of the Brahmin, Cherti,
Gurung, and Magar groups.
This trek is not only spectacular, but is also
a spiritual journey that you will remain with you for a lifetime.
